da cassino: Celtic fans are calling for a managerial appointment that would shock the footballing world, after Jose Mourinho criticised Brendan Rodgers’ handling of his move to Leicester.
While a small minority of Hoops fans may forgive Rodgers the temptation of the Premier League, the vast majority of fans are fuming at the former Liverpool boss for jumping ship mid-season, especially with the historic treble treble on the line.
Neil Lennon has got off to the perfect start since replacing Rodgers, but fans are now calling for a shock move for Mourinho, perhaps at the end of the season once Lennon has steadied the ship – if you can call winning three trophies steadying the ship.
Speaking on beIN Sports, the former Manchester United manager said: “I’m not surprised, because the Scottish championship, with all the respect, is not the same as the Premier League.
“Celtic is a giant club, but the Premier League is the Premier League so I am not surprised he comes.
“If I was in this position, I would say to Leicester: ‘I want to come to you but not now, I want to come next season, I want to be champion in Scotland, I want to leave in the right moment.’
“In my opinion, the right moment would be pre-season.”
Mourinho has perhaps delivered the most well balanced view of anyone on the Rodgers debate, showing he respects the stature of Celtic as a club but he also knows from first-hand experience that the Premier League is where greatness is truly forged.

However, he is clearly not impressed by Rodgers’ decision to jump ship mid-season, and fans are now calling for the enigmatic Portuguese to take over from Lennon at the end of the campaign.
He clearly has a lot of respect for Celtic and the fans, but it would still be an utterly jaw-dropping move from the club if they actually went for it, but that is what the Twitter reactions down below are yearning for…
